Eli Lilly received FDA approval for Zyprexa on September 30, 1996 for the treatment of schizophrenia. Patients who have used Zyprexa in as little as 10mg doses for as short a period of time as 3 days have suffered from hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus, diabetic coma/ketoacidosis (DKA), pancreatitis and death.
